Casa del Carmen – sleeps 2
It is most unusual to find a house designed just for two, but with a private pool, so this is a real favourite for romantic couples and honeymooners. Tucked into the heart of the tranquil village of Maro, Casa del Carmen is an enchanting house that has been beautifully restored using timber beamed ceilings and pretty, hand-made tiles Shut the front door and you have total privacy; or copy the locals and on warm summer evenings, take chairs onto the pavement and watch the world go by – you will be made most welcome by the neighbours.
From the kitchen with ochre painted walls and an ancient fireplace, the ground floor opens into a living room and intimate dining alcove. Don’t be deceived by the size of the little cast iron wood burner in the living room, when called upon in the winter months it kicks out the heat.
But, for most of the year, doors are open, and from the living room a covered porch leads to the dark blue mosaic pool. Waiting are two sun loungers and a barbecue built in one corner of the paved garden. The outdoor dining area is shaded by canes and surrounded by planters filled with jasmine and plumbago.
Stairs from the living area lead to the double bedroom, with a sun terrace that has views to the mountains and the sea. The bathroom features an enormous walk in shower decorated with over 2000 hand-made tiles.

Please note; Maro’s annual fiesta takes place around the 8th of September and is great fun, but very lively. Not the ideal time for guests who prefer their beauty sleep!
