Casa Rosa - sleeps 4
We fell in love with Casa Rosa the day we saw it, and the affair continues. Our first home in Spain, tucked into a corner of La Molineta. From the outside it appears modest. It is only when you have climbed the steps and opened the old stable door that you begin to discover the treasure within. A converted hundred year old bakery, with thick walls and a decidedly quirky layout, this is a house for those seeking something a little bit special.
Walk straight into the kitchen with its sloping beamed ceiling and long stretch of old pine that serves as a breakfast bar and generous work surface, but, more importantly, it is the ideal place to sit on the high rush stools, sipping chilled wine and chatting whilst supper simmers.

An arch leads to the living room and dining room with their antique wooden floors and a wood burning stove. On the same level is a bathroom and a twin bedroom with shuttered window looking out over the cobbled lane. Like all four of our houses, the walls are hung with original artwork, shelves are crammed with books and a little hunting will find the Scrabble and Monopoly that we had forgotten could be so much fun.
The staircase leading to the master bedroom is lit by a huge Moroccan lantern and if there is ever a ‘ Loo with a View ’ competition, then we shall enter the upstairs en-suite bathroom. The roof terrace off this bathroom offers views of the mountains and sea. The master bedroom has air conditioning which also provides winter heating.
Outside, the dining area is under a shady wisteria-covered terrace next to the barbeque. Sun seekers need only climb two steps to bask next to the deep blue pool. At night, turn on the underwater light and watch the dappled reflections on the white walls.
