La Panificadora (Posted On 20/07/2010 09:33:27)
Dear Jackie
Your book "Dog Days in Andalucia" has been my bedtime reading for a few nights now and I never want to put it down and turn off the light! It is a really lovely book and so "readable". I am a great cat lover - I have a wonderful cat called Oscar and I also love dogs - my 3 children between them having six!
I would so love to come to your part of Spain - I have visited other parts 3 or 4 times - and to meet you and your menagerie! However, having looked on this wonderful website and seeing your prices I am afraid, unless I win the lottery this week, they are beyond me!
However, the houses look absolutely lovely and I am so pleased that you and your husband have such a wonderful life in your "adopted" country!!! And thank you for writing such a wonderful book - it really is lovely and the cover is so appealing isn't it? And I do love a book with photos in it!
With warm regards

We have stayed in Jackie and Stephen's villas 10 times now. What we love about them is that they were all built and lived in as Spanish homes or workplaces long before they became holiday villas. Hence they were designed for what families need in this climate - spacious rooms, cool tiling and excellent quiet private terraces and gardens for dining and relaxing. To all this, Jackie and Stephen have added swimming pools, new bathrooms, some air-conditioning and tasteful decor. They live near to all 4 houses and are always willing to help with local knowledge and in the occasional crisis. We now regard our visits as ' comong home '. We had a fantastic few weeks at La Panificadora, if fact 2 weeks were not enough. Relaxing by the pool in the day and by the log fire at night made this desperately needed holiday perfect. Spain has never been on our list places to visit but staying in such a beautiful house and the surrounding areas has definitely converted us and we hope to be back soon.

Hi Jackie & Stephen, Sorry this is not for your visitors book, although I did write in the one in Maro. Just wanted to say thank you. Brian & I had a great holiday & it was especially good to meet you. Unfortunately we are back to work now but still have great memories & a reasonable tan! I would love to holiday with you again but am restricted to certain times ( we are both teachers!), so we will see. All the preparations had started for the festival in Maro, I bet it will be wonderful & I'm very sorry to miss it but I'm sure you will be there. Thanks again. Karen.
Casa Rosa (Posted On 16/03/2007 08:02:41)
We went to Spain with nothing to fear thinking all we'd do was swim and drink beer instead we found a whole lot more as the holiday became an Andalucian tour
Casa carolina was where the fun began as parents lazed while the children swam long lazy mornings, then Nerja for lunch- what a thoroughly lazy bunch!
then on Friday we thought "sod the siesta let's head to Malaga for the fiesta!" then the next day we hit Molineta and the party just got better and better.
Rosario, Manolo and Federico the horse were all enjoyed between course after course habas, tortilla, morcilla and jamon the menu just went on and on
the highlight for us mere foreigners was Sacristan for the "Tres Culturas" thanks so much to Jackie and Stephen the only shame is we have to be leavin'
with apologies to F.G. Lorca

Any couple looking for privacy, delightful surroundings and an opportunity to experience village life, this was it for us.The house is deceptively spacious and, depending on which time of year you choose, affords a cool place in which to retreat after a day in the sun or,for a winter break, you can cosy up with a glass and a good book in front of a lovely log fire.We really enjoyed the private garden with our own swimming pool& barbecue and ending the day on the balcony outside the bedroom after a party sized shower ( This has to be seen). We had the best of both worlds since Nerja was 5 minutes down the road yet the Balcon de Maro was 2 minutes away and afforded us fabulous views and tasty tapas and the local shops have that wonderful capacity to stock all the things you tend to run out of at the last minute. From the outside, Casa Rosa has few features to distinguish it from other Spanish houses and therefore did not prepare us for what lay behind the front door at the start of one of our most memorable holidays. The whole house is geared towards peace and relaxation in true Spanish style whether we chose to stand at the breakfast bar with a glass of wine while preparing tapas or in the evenings, from the bedroom we could access what we called " the Cockpit"(a small roof terrace)and savour a brandy under the stars.Jackie and Stephen provided a wealth of information about the area, places to eat etc all adding to the success of a splendid three week stay. Over the past 6 years we have loved staying in three of the villas at Frigiliana, - Casa Rosa,Casa Carolina and La Panificadora, each of them different but having their own charm and character. There is much to enjoy in the surrounding area and with the generous help and local knowledge of the owners Stephen & Jackie we have been able to make the most of our visits ,and always look forward to returning each year.
